The furniture industry is one of the largest consumers of wood and the industry that provides the most value to raw materials. We also produce significant transportation emissions, use a substantial amount of energy and create packaging waste. The good news is there is a group of dedicated industry professionals who are stepping up to change the industry. The orginization is the Sustainable Furniture Council.
The SFC is an independent non-profit balanced coalition of furniture industry leaders and visionaries. Their mission is to promote sustainable practices within the home furnishings industry and raise awareness among manufacturers, retailers, designers and consumers. It is their belief that sustainable practices are those that promote a healthy balance between the environment, local economies and social equity.
Structured Green is very excited to be a part of this organization. We hope that we can educate and promote the use of materials that are eco-friendly.
