May is National Bike MonthThe League of American Bicyclists is promoting Bike-to-Work Week from May 12-16 and Bike-to-Work Day on Friday, May 16. The following are 2 events that are happening in Savannah, GA:
| Friday, May 16, Dump the Pump, as part of National Bike to Work Day - As if riding a bike to work through the beautiful streets of Savannah is not incentive enough, we'll also have a coffee break set up from 6:30 a.m.-9:30 a.m. in Davant Park at the south end of Colonial Cemetery on Lincoln. Coffee, food, and prizes to all transit, bike and pedestrian commuters who come by!
Sunday, May 18, Savannah Bicycle Campaign's Savannah Wheelie II (Electric Boogaloo) kicks off from Grayson Stadium in Daffin Park. Roll out at 1:00 p.m., so be there at least a few minutes before to sign the waiver, or print this file and bring it with you. There will not be a police escort this time (the Earth Day police escort was courtesy of the city as part of their Earth Day festival budget), so this will be a rules of the road ride through Daffin Park, Police Memorial Park trail, and Parkside -- much of the ride will be on bike paths. Kids who can go a few miles are welcome to ride and those who can't are welcome in carriers. Please wear a helmet! The ride finishes back at the stadium where Wheelie participants can get $5 general admission tickets (regular price is $7) to the Sand Gnats' game at 2pm. |
