2008 INNOVATION AWARDS, SAVANNAH, GA

CLIENT OVERVIEW: The new awards celebration organized by The Creative Coast Alliance and The Savannah Economic Development Association will build on the tradition of the Coastal Business, Education and Technology Alliance (cBETA) Annual Technology Awards, honoring regional business, education and community organizations that demonstrate innovation and outstanding achievement in education, business, community, government and sustainability.

PROJECT BRIEF: For the first Annual Innovation Awards we were given the honor of designing the awards and presentation stage. We built a 12-foot tall sculptural rendition of the Creative Coast's logo. The structure was suspended from the ceiling above stage and was comprised of over 400 used aluminum cans. By hand, we flattened the cans, and wove them together creating a colorful dynamic repurposing of the material. We also built the awards podium, a curved dais built of FSC certified ply and inlaid with sheets of reclaimed, rusted tin sheets salvaged from the set of the film Bagger Vance.
