LIVE OAK PUBLIC LIBRARY, SOUTHWEST BRANCH, SAVANNAH GA

CLIENT OVERVIEW: Greenline Architects and the
Design Group will be designing the library layout. Choate is the construction
contractor. The library has a planned opening date of Summer 2009. The history
of the Live Oak Public Libraries can be traced back to the turn of the century
in Savannah. Established in 1903, the Savannah Public Library consisted of a
23,000-volume collection housed in one room of the Georgia Historical Society.
The library's name was changed to Live Oak Public Libraries in 2002 to reflect
the personality of the region as well as the life and growth of its branches.
Greenline Architecture was launched as one of the premier architectural and
interior design firms in the Southeast following the merging of Savannah's most
respected and successful firms: Bazemore Mastrianni Wilson Architects and Poticny
Deering Felder Architecture. Our mission is to be the obvious choice to design
a signature project for a discerning client. We are committed to sustainability
in all aspects of our corporate culture and our designers are experts at their
individual crafts. With approachable and involved principals, we are designing
exceptional environments for future generations. We seek projects that can be
period specific or cutting edge. We seek clients who expect an intense level
of involvement with their architect. The resulting product is a carefully detailed
and well-executed custom home, school, professional office, church or hospitality
facility. The firm prides itself on its professional and design integrity. Every
project is unique; the architects do not design using formulas or by rearranging
items they have successfully used in the past. The firm provides architectural
design and project management, historic preservation and renovation, and full
commercial and residential interior design.

PROJECT BRIEF: With the opening of the first LEED
certified library in Savannah, interior designers at Greenline were
looking for highly durable pieces with a modern spin on industrial furniture.
Using CNC technology we built 24 tables in FSC-certified Plywood with a walnut
veneer and water based low-VOC clear coat. Local welder Aaron Heisler built
the table legs from steel.
