CLIENT OVERVIEW: Savannah Bee Company's Honey House is a unique retail experience built on education and enlightenment into the fascinating and infinitely amazing world of honey and the honeybee. Located in the heart of historic Savannah, it is a shopping experience that is as sweet as Tupelo Honey.

PROJECT BRIEF: The Honey house has fast become one of the most recognizable shop fronts on Savannah's main thoroughfare, Broughton Street. With their old time charm and hive inspired design, they've transformed their space into an alternate bee universe. But something was missing. The main doors to the shop were regular, run of the mill metal and glass and belied the crafted aesthetic that represents their company. We came up with a combination of old barn charm mixed with new technology and cutting edge materials. Using Savannah Bee Company's own broken bee hive boxes; we built a classic screen door. For the main door we used CNC technology to carve a hive-like mullion into River Recovery Cypress. In collaboration with Spinneybeck we used recycled, vegetable-dyed leather and laser etched into it the Honey House logo, these pieces were then inset into the door frame.
